A man of many talents

Ole Berntsen Søndergaard is the name of the Danish world renowned graphic designer. Søndergaard was born in Copenhagen in 1937. His great success is partly due to the fact that he not only excels in one area of design, but also has an interest and flair for countless design areas. These areas include fonts and works of art, including paintings. Today, Søndergaard continues to work as a graphic designer, but over the years he has been a teacher at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, founder of several companies and inventor. In particular, he is known for his invention of the so-called pictograms as well as he font, FF Signa, which is adopted in the official, internation collection of fonts.

Prizes and medals

Due to his work with countless forms of design, Søndergaard has not gone unnoticed. He has won numerous awards and medals. He won the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal in 1996 and received Knud V. Engelhardt’s Memorial Award in 1980. In addition to these awards and medals, Søndergaard gas also had the pleasure of producing various designs for large companies, such as Trygg Hansa.
