The largest publishing company in Denmark

Gyldendal, founded in 1770 by Søren Gyldendal, is Denmark’s largest and second oldest publishing company. Among the countless publications Gyldendal has had over the last several hundred years, there is everything from fiction to educational material to children’s books. Among these many publications are a number of artists, with one in particular standing out. It is the Danish baroness, poet and author named Karen Blixen.

Karen Blixen is best known as a poet and writer, where especially collections such as Seven Fantastic Stories (Syv Fantastiske Fortællinger) and Winter Fairy Tale (Vinter-Eventyr) have found their way into the hearts of many Danes. With her tales of human destinies, identities and lives, she has managed to compile some tales that the vast majority of people can recognize.
