What the heart says

Edgar Degas was a painter born in the French capital Paris in 1834 and died 83 years later in 1917. Degas was born into a relatively wealthy family, which is why he was given the opportunity to study at the age of only 11 years. 7 years later, when he was 18, he graduated from school with a bachelor’s degree in literature. Despite his fine exam and degree, he had a penchant for art and painting. This meant that Degas designed one of the rooms in his home as a painting studio, where he could concentrate on his burning passion, thus embracing the potentials and possibilities of painting. Soon, he worked at the world-renowned museum in Paris called The Louvre, here he loved to work, even though his father would rather have him educate as a lawyer. Degas was thus a man who followed his heart.

Pastels and brush stokes

In addition to the most beautiful touches of summer pastel colours such as pink, blue and beige, Degas’s art and paintings are characterized by a well-considered sense of detail and brush strokes. Here at Permild & Rosengreen you will find, among other things, one of Degas’s best-known works by the name “Blue dancers”, depicting a group of young ballerinas in fine, blue dresses. See the poster above, as well as out other popular poster named “Drawing of a lady”, which is also painted in the most beautiful, mild pink shade. The “Drawing of a lady” is perfect for hanging in the typical girl’s room or in the cottage where relaxation and gentle, mild shades are needed – the posters of Degas’s paintings offer many possibilities.
